A quattro mesi di distanza dall’ultima volta, Patrick George Zaki torna a comunicare con la famiglia. Il giovane studente egiziano dell’università di Bologna, arrestato all’aeroporto del Cairo il 7 febbraio scorso con l’accusa, tra le altre, di propaganda sovversiva su Facebook, è tornato a farsi sentire con una lettera pubblicata dal profilo Twitter FreePatrick che fornisce quotidianamente aggiornamenti sul giovane ancora rinchiuso nel carcere di Tora, nella sezione II Scorpion dedicata agli oppositori politici.

“Miei cari – si legge nel documento in arabo pubblicato sul social – Sto bene e sono in buona salute, spero che anche voi lo siate. Famiglia, amici, amici del lavoro e dell’università di Bologna, mi mancate molto, molto più di quello che posso spiegare con le parole”. Il ragazzo mostra preoccupazione, poi, per le conseguenze del coronavirus chiedendo ancora se questo abbia colpito qualcuno dei suoi conoscenti: “Spero che tutti voi siate in buona salute e che il coronavirus non abbia colpito i vostri cari”. Invia poi un messaggio di speranza: “Un giorno sarò libero e tornerò alla normalità, anche meglio di prima”.

Secondo quanto riferito sempre dai gestori del profilo social, la lettera è stata scritta il 21 giugno, anche se i genitori l’hanno ricevuta solo il 4 luglio: “Ovviamente non ha detto tutto quello che avrebbe voluto – spiegano -, visto che queste lettere devono prima passare al vaglio della sicurezza. Certo, siamo ancora preoccupati, ma felici di leggere le sue parole. Come prevedibile, manda messaggi d’amore a molte persone e si chiede come stiamo. Ti amiamo Patrick, stiamo aspettando e pressando per la tua libertà e siamo certi che uscirai da tutto questo forte e con amore come sempre”.
Immediato il commento di Amnesty International, tra le ong che più si sono esposte per la liberazione del giovane: “Una notizia bella, una lettera molto dolce che ci dà conforto, che ci sprona a impegnarci ancora di più per assecondare il desiderio di Patrick, che poi è un diritto più che desiderio – ha commentato il portavoce di Amnesty Italia, Riccardo Noury – E cioè quello di tornare in libertà.

Bello leggere che Patrick nonostante tutto sia in buone condizioni, di spirito. Continua la campagna per chiedere il suo rilascio, immediato e incondizionato”.

According to what was always reported by the managers of the social profile, the letter was written on June 21, even if the parents received it only on July 4: "Obviously he didn't say everything he wanted - they explain -, given that these letters they must first pass through security. Of course, we are still worried, but happy to read his words. As expected, he sends love messages to many people and wonders how we are. We love you Patrick, we are waiting and pressing for your freedom and we are sure that you will come out of all this strong and with love as always ".

Immediate comment from Amnesty International, among the NGOs that have most exposed themselves for the release of the young man: “A beautiful news, a very sweet letter that gives us comfort, which encourages us to work even harder to satisfy Patrick's desire, which is more a right than a desire - commented the spokesman for Amnesty Italia, Riccardo Noury ​​- And that is to return to freedom.
